Samara SubExpress: Fresh and Fast

Esta publicación también está disponible en: Español

A new sandwich place in Samara offers fresh food in less than five minutes. George and Janet Brookman opened “SubExpress” in the Natural Center this January.

The client picks their own sandwich, with a meat option and the vegetables they choose. Meats are imported from the United States and other ingredients are cut fresh daily.

Subs can be ordered on white or whole wheat bread with five meat options: roast beef, Italian (salami, ham and pepperoni), turkey, ham and tuna. There is also a vegetarian option for those who do not eat meat, who can choose a sandwich, wrap, or salad. Six-inch subs cost between 3,000 and 3,500 colones ($6-7). Twelve-inch subs are between 4,200 and 4,800 ($8.40 and $9.60).

For those who would like to take the meat home and make their own sandwich, SubExpress offers “deli” style cuts of meat for approximately 8,000 colones ($16) per pound.

The shop doesn’t have chairs or tables; orders are “come and go” carryout, as George Brookman says. It is an ideal place for backpackers, surfers or those on vacation who would like to eat at the beach. They are open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
