Costa Rica’s Chorotega region is prosperous, but some deficiencies still cause it to lag behind. Among them is access to the Internet – fewer than half of the region’s homes are connected to the Web. Having Internet access is no longer considered a luxury for many families, and it is one of the factors evaluated in determining household poverty.
What else is preventing the region from becoming prosperous? These statistics, taken from the National Statistics and Census Institute’s 2015 National Household Survey, provide some clues.
