Ministry of Health Declares War Against Dengue

Since Thursday, August 21, the authorities of the Ministry of Health are spraying every house in the Canton of Nicoya, which so far this year is the canton most affected nationwide by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue.

In addition, the municipalities of Nicoya, Hojancha and Nandayure, as well as the Red Cross, the Ministry of Education and the private company Gollo are collecting all kinds of appliances and electronics that people do not need to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.

Moreover, on Thursday, the 29th, the Nosara Red Cross collected and classified waste in the community and reported that they will continue on Friday, the 30th, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting from the EBAIS and extending to different points in Nosara.

According to Carlos Villalobos, head of the Red Cross, they are covering different neighborhoods of Nosara, including Santa Marta, Santa Teresa and La Esperanza, and also are fumigating homes.

In addition, Villalobos indicated that they will continue spraying on Saturday, August 31.

Dr. Fulvio Paniagua, in charge of the EBAIS of Samara, reported that the community dengue campaign planned for Friday, the 29th, had to be canceled due to lack of support from the authorities and the community.
