Nosara and Samara residents will soon be able to take advantage of their towns’ multipurpose centers, which have been taking shape since last year, for communal activities.

In April of 2013, the Integral Development Association of Nosara (ADIN – Asociación de Desarrollo Integral de Nosara) received approval from the National Direction of Community Direction (DINADECO – Dirección Nacional de Desarrollo Comunal) to begin construction. Nevertheless, it wasn’t until November of that year that work began.

Marcos Avila, president of ADIN, stated that Nosara’s community center is in an advanced stage, as only small details remain to be finalized, and that it will be ready in the second week of this coming March.

The building will be equipped with stands, bathrooms and dressing rooms and will be very similar to the multipurpose center at the elementary school in the San Martin neighborhood in Nicoya. The structure has a cost of ₡90 million ($180,000) and is located behind Biblioteca Kitson in Nosara, 50 meters east and 25 south.

In addition to Nosara, the community of Chinampas in Samara will also have a new multipurpose center for communal activities. Bonifacio Diaz, a syndic from Samara, explained that work started on Monday, February 24, with excavating and the transportation of construction materials.

Diaz mentioned that the timeline set for the entire process is 90 days and that the budget is ₡50 million ($100,000). The building will be 16 meters long by 11 meters wide, and is located next to the soccer field in Chinampas.

Both projects were financed by DINADECO and are being implemented by the Nicoya company Evicen.
