Samara Celebrates its Artisans and the Art of Giving

Children from small remote villages surrounding Samara will be the beneficiaries of a very special  event on Saturday, December 13.   Admission will be one new, unwrapped toy per person.  The toys are to be distributed for Christmas to children who might not otherwise receive a gift.   Jewelry designer and maker, Montserrat Dibango is the force behind the celebration, which will also showcase local artisans.

Attendees are requested to wear white for an evening that will include a fashion show of locally made garments and jewelry, emceed by television personality Johanna Ortiz from the popular show, Intrusos de la Farandula. Live music performed by Samara’s Lindsay Lavelle will be followed by dancing to music provided by a  DJ.

The event is sponsored by Montserrat Dibango Jewelry, Tabanucco Restaurant, and Sala de Belleza Erika of Carrillo.  Clothing presented will be by designers and makers from Cangrejal, Sala Belleza Erika will provide hair and makeup and the show will feature handmade  jewelry by Ms. Dibango which incorporates fine wire work with hand made glass beads, created in Samara by Manu Dibango, who trained in Heredia, and Vacouver, BC, Canada in the arts of blown glass and bead making.

Restaurant Tabanuco will reopen for the season on this special night that will be a celebration of the season and all things  Samara.
